自転車日本一周 1年目

終わらないノスタルジア（re:日本一周#4）

日本一周も4日目になった

4日目は三重県の道の駅菰野からスタート

相変わらず野宿は人の目とか物音とか気になりまくるけど、初日に比べれば慣れてきた。

4日目の道のり

そんな4日目は道の駅菰野からいよいよ紀伊半島の山道へ、紀伊長島の道の駅を目指して走る

今朝は初めて荷台にソーラーパネルを積んだ

最初は充電出来るか不安だったけど、のち3年間はこいつがMVP級の働きをする

菰野を出て、まずは国道42号を鈴鹿→亀山→津→松坂と三重県のビッグシティを越えていく

流石の都会っぷりだったけど松坂を越えたあたりから紀伊半島をぐるっと一周する国道42号は急に山道へと差しかかった

後で気づいたんだけど、ここから国道42号は紀伊半島を一周して、和歌山市の方に辿り着くまで大体300キロ強、ほとんど街という街は無い

どこかの旅人に聞いた「紀伊半島はなかなかの秘境だよー」って言葉は結構本当だった

そして今日の道のりはそんな秘境の冒険の始まりだ。ひたすら山を越えていく道のりだった。

「うわ、また山かぁ…疲れそう…」

なんて思ったけど、紀伊半島の山並みはそんな疲れも吹き飛ばしてくれるほどの風景だった

日本の「ふるさと」がそこに

山道に入ってからは「日本の原風景」と呼ぶに相応しい道のりが待っていたんだ

まだ青い稲穂は風に揺れて波を描いてた

その風からふんわり漂ってくる田んぼの匂いは昔、おじいちゃんの家に行ったときに味わったことのある、あの懐かしい田舎の匂いそのまんまだった

少しあぜ道に入ると、色んな虫の声が聞こえた

田んぼのあぜ道はどこか人を優しい気持ちにさせてくれる気がする。

田んぼは人が作り上げたものだけど、あくまでも優しく自然に溶け込んでいた

ビルだって人が作り上げたものだけど、そこに自然と溶け込む優しさは感じられない

無機質な冷たさに囲まれる東京とはまた違う、優しい空気が流れていた

そんな空気はどこかノスタルジアで優しい気持ちにしてくれて、時間も忘れて眺めてた

田んぼを抜けると、次は清流が出迎えてくれた

空はすっかり夏空だ

夏空の下で日差しをたっぷり浴びた緑はどこか嬉しそうに精一杯生きていた

川の流れに逆らうように、青い光を放ちながらカワセミが飛び込む。

この世界で生きているのは人間だけじゃ無いんだよね。色んな生き物が精一杯生きているんだよね。東京で過ごしていると忘れそうになる、そんな当たり前を思い出した

だったら俺も精一杯走りたいなぁ

いつもだったら思い出すこともない、当たり前の「夏」を噛み締めながら走りたいなぁ

そう思わせてくれた紀伊半島の自然に感謝しながら、山道を越えていった

途中、地元の牛乳が売ってたから、地元の味を知る為にも飲んでみたけど、めちゃめちゃ口の中がベタベタした。小学生の時からの当たり前だけど運動しながら牛乳はやっぱりダメだった

そんなこともやりながら、山道をまだまだ走る

猿とか鹿も途中たくさん見た

こんなに近距離で見たのは人生初めてだったし、自然の大きさを18歳の肌で感じてた

そして気づけば…

今日最後の峠、荷坂峠のてっぺんに辿り着く

すぐそこに海が見えるように、山だけの道はここで最後だ。ここからは海に突入する

こうやって山も海も自然を満喫出来るのは紀伊半島ならではかもね

そして山を下って、海に出た

今日はそのまますぐ近くの道の駅、紀伊長島マンボウで野宿だ

近くの温泉で3日ぶりのお風呂に入ってリフレッシュして、満天の星と波の音が聞こえる中で静かに4日目は過ぎていった

走行距離 136キロ

三重県菰野町→三重県紀北町

総走行距離 563キロ

今日も見てくれてありがとうございます
