自転車日本一周 1年目

日本で一番青い駅（re:日本一周#18）

18日目は宇和島の道の駅みなとオアシス宇和島で起きる。

夜に突然の雨が降ってきたけど、広い屋根がある道の駅でゆっくり休めた。

そんな今日は、日本で一番海に近い駅「下灘駅」に向かう

ヨコイシにとって下灘駅は今も昔も憧れど真ん中の場所だ

その憧れはまだヨコイシが高校生の頃に遡る

呑気にスマホでまとめサイトをネットサーフィンしていた時に、偶然見つけたサイト

そのサイトは青春18きっぷのポスターをただひたすらに貼り付けているサイトだった

そこで下灘駅が使われているポスターを見て、背中に電流が走るほどの衝撃を受ける

駅舎から見える青い海

駅舎を抜けると



だだっ広い海にポツンと浮かんだような駅のホーム

それに加えて「前略、僕は日本のどこかにいます」というキャッチコピー

これほどまでに美しい風景と言葉があるのかと高校生ながらに1人震えていた

これを見た時から、このポスターの通りに「前略、僕は日本のどこかにいます」と言えるくらいに自由な旅をして、このポスターの通りに気取った写真を撮るのがヨコイシ青年の夢になる

その結果、高校生の頃に友達との高校卒業旅行を断って青春18きっぷで旅に出る程には、この下灘駅に憧れたわけだ。

そしてその憧れの場所に、今度は自転車で行くことが出来ると考えるだけで、この日はどこまでも走っていけそうなくらいに身体が軽かった

そんな18日目の道のり

午前7時、まだ雨が乾ききらずに湿った道路を北へ、憧れの場所に向かって走り始める

宇和島からまずは西予市へ、朝から山越えが始まった。

斜面にみかん畑が広がる「the愛媛」な山道も朝の涼しい空気と憧れに対するはやる気持ちで快調に飛ばす

相変わらず四国の海は綺麗だ

山越えが終わると、西予市から八幡浜市まではのどかな田園風景が続く

線路と田園風景は本当に絵になる

稲穂の匂いに包まれながら走っていると

巨大なマンモスの親子に遭遇した。どうやら愛媛は未だに古代の生態系が続いているらしい

そんな遊び心溢れた田園風景を抜けて八幡浜市を越えると、いよいよ海沿いの道になる

憧れの場所が近づいてきた匂いが漂う

太陽がちょうど真上に昇って、海の青が一番青くなる時間。憧れの場所「下灘駅」に辿り着く

吹き抜ける潮風と広がる海原は俺が憧れたあの写真そのままだった。

いや、あの写真をゆうに越える美しさだ

どこまでも青い色に包まれていた

間違いなく、ここ下灘駅は

「日本で一番青い駅」だろう

男2人、どこまでも広がる青に圧倒されて、しばらく呆然としていた

気取った写真も絵になってしまうから、この場所ではいくらでも気取った自分でいて良い気がした。それはもう青春ドラマで彼女を待つ主人公の気分だ。

1時間は浸っていただろうか

存分に主人公気分を味わっていたが、お腹が減ってきた。流石に三大欲求に勝てるものはないらしい。

惜しみながらも日本で一番青い駅を後にして、松山方面に向かって走り出す

今日は松山市街でネットカフェに泊まって、明日で埼玉に帰るカイトと最後の晩餐をする。

午後2時には松山に着いて、道後温泉でのんびり汗を流した後

豪勢にいった

いよいよ明日で四国一周男2人旅が終わる

少し寂しい夜はネカフェの中で静かに更けていった

走行距離 102キロ

愛媛県宇和島市→愛媛県松山市

総走行距離 2196キロ
