男たちの夏（re:日本一周#19）

男2人旅最後の夜は静かに明けた

今日が1000キロ以上続いた四国一周男2人旅の最終日だ。

まだ夜の匂いが残る松山市街を、走り始める

19日目の道のり

松山市街から40キロほど走れば、しまなみ海道の入り口今治市に辿り着く。

いよいよ四国一周も完了となるわけだ

しまなみ海道愛媛側の最初の橋、来島海峡大橋を渡り始めると、今治市街は後方に消えていく

今治市街が見えなくなった時、四国一周が無事に終わったことを実感する

思えばこの四国一周で走った1000キロは、一緒に走ってくれたカイトとの、男2人の青春だった

山を越えるとき、荷物が軽量のカイトは常に前を走ってくれた

見えなくなるくらいに前にいることもあったけど、それでも山の頂上では必ず俺を待ってくれていた。

1人ではくじけそうになるくらいの山の連続も「カイトが走ってるんだから俺だって」なんて思いは少なからずあったし、助けられた

道中はあまり話すことはない。

カイトと中学から一緒で仲が良いからこそ、無理に話さなくても良かった。

ただ、たまに風を切りながら話す、男同士のバカな話がたまらなく好きだった

「中学の時だれが可愛かった」だの

「あの子おっぱい大きかったな」だの

「おい！これクワガタじゃね？！ミヤマじゃん」だの

なんなら走ってる時に暇すぎて始めたしりとりでさえ面白かった

なにより、走り終わってクタクタになりながら目的地に着いた時に、夕日の中で乾杯して飲んだ冷たいコーラは、今まで飲んできたどんなに高いお酒より美味しかった。

突然の雨に打たれて雨宿りしたあの瞬間も

防波堤に乗っかって食べた昼飯も

そんな一瞬一瞬がなによりの青春だった

いつか2人してスーツを着て満員電車に乗って出勤して、帰って家族サービスして、そんな変わりのない毎日を過ごす時が来ても、たまにはこの時の思い出を語り合いながらお酒飲もうな。そんな時間こそ青春は一番輝く気がするんだよな。

そんなことを思いながら、2回目のしまなみ海道はあっという間に過ぎ去っていく。

本日もしまなみ海道は快晴だ

2回目でも飽きることがないくらいに素敵な瀬戸内海の風景がパノラマで広がる

橋を渡るたびに、本州に近づいていく

本州に近づくたびに、2人旅の最後も近づいていく。

そんな寂しさも忘れるくらいに青のパノラマは広がり続ける。

防波堤の上を歩く野良猫と目があった。それはもうのどかな時間が、穏やかに凪いでいる瀬戸内海には流れていた。

1週間前は1人で撮ったサイクリストの聖地での写真も今度は2人だ。

多々羅大橋を渡ると

いよいよ広島県に戻ってきた

しまなみ海道も残り半分になる

次の生口島では


名物のジェラートを食べたり

満喫する

カイトの背中を見て走るのも今年はこれで最後かぁ。

来年も必ず連れてきてやろう

なんて思いながら、もう尾道はすぐそこだった

船が出る

この船に乗れば五分で尾道へ着く

そして…

ご褒美の尾道ラーメン

これを食って男2人旅、四国一周編は終わった

あっさりしたカイトとの別れを終えて、あいつは東京へと帰っていった

これからひたすら西へ向かう俺に、サングラスを残して。笑

これからはカイトの代わりにカイトがつけてたこのサングラスをつけて、また新たな一人旅が始まろうとしていた。

走行距離 160キロ

愛媛県松山市→広島県竹原市

総走行距離 2356キロ
