雲を抜けて（徒歩日本縦断#47 乗鞍前編）

勝負の日が始まった

日本一高い道路。乗鞍エコーラインを制覇

そのためにこの10日間歩き続けてきた

そんな勝負の47日目、乗鞍高原のキャンプ場で目が覚める

大事なのは天気だ。

午前5時。テントを開けて空を見る

ドン曇り…

とりあえず山の朝は曇っていることが多いので、もう少し様子を見る

午前6時。相変わらずの天気…

下山のことも考えれば7時には歩き出さなければ間に合わない。

「歩いているうちに晴れる」

そう思い込んでテントを出た

朝の冷たい空気の中で準備運動

今日は相当キツイ1日になるので念入りに体を伸ばす。

そして7時前に歩き出す。

天空に挑む。勝負の1日が始まった

現在地点が標高1300m。そこから21キロ歩いて一気に頂点の標高2700mまで駆け上がって、更に20キロ歩いて標高1400mまで戻る。41キロ歩いて日本一の峠を越える壮絶な1日になる。

せめて空が晴れてくれればやる気も起きるのだが

ドン曇りにもほどがある

天気予報では朝から晴れ予報だが、相変わらず横石は山運が悪い。

思えば自転車日本一周の時も乗鞍は始め濃霧に包まれていた。ただそのあとは快晴の素晴らしい景色を見れたので心のどこかで「今回も晴れる」そう信じていた。というかそう信じないとこの過酷な峠道は登れない。

道のりは歩き始めからひたすら斜度10パー前後の登り道。ここから21キロは本当に妥協無く2700mまで登るのだ。

標高1600mになると熊笹生い茂る林道に入る

多少クマが怖いが、そんなこと気にならないほどに横石の心はウキウキしていた。

なぜなら

あんなに厚かった雲が晴れ始めて、目の前に目指すべき乗鞍の山容がいきなり現れたから

半ば諦めかけていた青空が今にも顔出しそうで横石の心は踊る。歩調が早くなっていく。

そして標高1800mでいよいよ三本滝ゲートというゲートに来る。ここからは完全にマイカーが入ることのできない天空の領域だ

そして

気づけば完全に青空が広がる

どうやら雲を突き抜けてきたようだ

天空の領域に入る瞬間に広がる青空

アルプスの神様はここにきて横石に微笑んでくれた。

あの厚い雲は完全に下へ

まさに天空の領域に入った

ここからは蒼の世界だ

平地で見る青空より、濃い「蒼」

大気に近いからだろうか。

ひたすら続く九十九折に息は切れる。だけど全然辛くなかった。足も重いはずなのに軽かった

それほど北アルプスが見せてくれる風景が神々しいほどに美しかった

一年中雪が残る乗鞍だからこそ見れる夏の雪解け水。

ふと後ろを振り向くと雲海と南アルプスの山々

目の前には孤高にそびえる乗鞍岳

そして標高2500mの森林限界（木々がこれ以上上に伸びることのできない標高）を越えた時。横石の目の前に今までの旅史上でも類を見ない絶景が広がる…

ごめんなさい今日乗鞍を無事に下山したんだけど疲れすぎたので前編と後編に分けます。

明日は本気で書きます！楽しみにしていてください！（1番綺麗な絶景はまともな状態の時に書きたい笑）
