信長の野望（徒歩日本縦断#53）

午前2時。冷たい風が強く吹いて目が覚める

直感で「あ、来るこれ」と思い雨雲レーダーを確認

しっかり五分後にやばい雨雲が迫っていた

急いでテントから出てフライヤーが飛ばないように強く結ぶ。

そうこうしているうちにものすごい風と雨が押し寄せてきた

「やばい、テント戻らなきゃ。」

そう思った瞬間ペグも打ってないテントは50センチほど浮いた。手で押さえてなかったら確実に飛んで行ってた。

そのままなんとかテントの中に身体ごと収まって嵐が過ぎるのを待つ。

幸い1時間ほどで嵐は収まって、そのまま就寝

22歳の幕開けは文字通り波乱の幕開けだった

そして朝

3日前まで降水確率100パーセントだったのにまさかの晴れ。予想以上に台風が早く去ったみたいだ。

野宿場所も嵐が来ると予想してテントを張った甲斐があった。道の駅の隣が工事中で、高い壁を作っていたので、夜もうるさかったが雨除けになってくれると思いあえて壁沿いにテントを張って、軒下でテントを建てた。その成果もあってほとんどテントは濡れずにすんだのだ。

そんな台風一過の晴れた空の下で清々しい誕生日の1日をスタートした。

そんな今日は美濃市から岐阜市まで

今日の道のりはいつ以来だろうか。久しぶりに最初から最後までほぼ平坦な市街地の幹線道路沿いを歩く

次々に出てくるコンビニも、登校する高校生も、吹いてくる風の生温かさも…

美濃市も関市もしっかり街だったので、久しぶりに食料の心配も無用だ。思えば新潟を出てアルプスチャレンジをして以来、標高が二桁の平地に戻ってきたのは実に1ヶ月くらいぶりだし、逆に色々と新鮮だった。

美濃市を出てすぐに関市へ入る。かといって何か景色が変わるわけではなく、市街地をひたすら歩くだけ。

関市は刃物の町らしい。そこら中に刃物屋さんがあった。ぜひ横石のバイト先の店長にプレゼントしたいなぁなんて思いながら先を歩く

関からも国道156号をこのままずっと歩けば岐阜市なのだが、横石的に少し味気ないので県道へそれる。

まぁ県道に入った一番の理由は岐阜公園に行くことなんだけどね。岐阜城を真下で見てみたいじゃんか。

てことで少しのどかになった川沿いの県道を歩いていると

トンネルの中でクラクションが鳴った

後ろを振りむくと、

自転車日本一周の時から横石を応援してくださっているザッキーさんという方が、わざわざ応援しにきてくださったのだ！！

トンネルを出た先の公園で待ち合わせて合流し

なんとザッキーさんは、「誕生日おめでとう！」とわざわざお寿司を差し入れしてくださった。

時間もちょうどお昼なので食べながらお話をする。

岐阜県にお住まいのザッキーさんから、色んな岐阜のいいところを聞いた。横石的には風景も人も最高の岐阜を改めて答え合わせ出来て安心といった感じだ。

そしてザッキーさんは横石が日本一周中に佐多岬で横石を見かけたらしい！なんという奇跡！

本当に旅中はどこで誰と会うかわからないものだ。これだから面白いよな。

ザッキーさん、本当にありがとうございました！！とても元気が出る出会いでした！

そんな出会いに背中を押されて、岐阜市に向かって歩きを再開。

そして川沿いを進んでいると、突然巨大な山が目の前に現れた

山の頂上に覗くのは城の天守閣

そう。岐阜城が突然その姿を現したのだ

岐阜城といえば稲葉山城時代に斎藤道三、龍興から信長が攻略し、天下布武を掲げて「岐阜」と改名し本拠にした城。要するに戦国時代の本格化が進んだ拠点だ。

その城は高い山の上にそびえる難攻不落の山城

予想を遥かに超える高さに聳えていた。

もし、斎藤道三が死んでいなかったら

もし、斎藤龍興がうつけじゃなかったら

歴史にたらればはないけど、「斎藤道三が城主だったらこの城は落とせない…」そう思わせてくれるくらいの圧倒的な自然の要塞がそこに合った。

この感覚は歩き旅で訪れたからかもしれない。

平地からいきなりこの高さの城が現れる絶望をまるで攻め入る気分で味わってしまった。

ここからは岐阜城を眺めながらひたすら行進

せっかくなので大好きな信長の野望と太閤立志伝のBGMを聴きながら歩く。

舞台は1560年代の岐阜

横石はただの足軽

今から稲葉山城を攻略するためにこの山へ攻め入ろうとする

足が震える。「絶対死ぬ」そう思うだろう。

それでも下知に従って前に進まなければ

戦国の世の過酷さがまじまじと浮かんできた

そしてそれに立ち向かう勇敢な戦士たちは、現代の世では考えられないほどの精神の持ち主だったに違いない。

今までの旅で色んな城を見てきたけど、人気なのはやはり平城が多い。平地にドカンと立つ豪勢な作りの城だ。

そういう城ももちろん好きだが、岐阜城に関しては戦いに特化しすぎた山城のせいで、ありありと過去の情景まで浮かんできてしまった

終始鳥肌が止まらず、想いを馳せながら歩く

間違いなく横石史上最も惹かれる城だった

岐阜公園に着いてからは少しのんびり

どこから見てもやっぱり高すぎるよ岐阜城…笑

そんな歴史の街を堪能して、現代に戻るとしようか

ここから岐阜市街までは3キロほどで着く

「岐阜は田舎だよぉ〜！」なんて岐阜県民の方はおっしゃるが、やはり県庁所在地となれば眩しい。そりゃ東京や名古屋と比べれば別次元だけど、東京や名古屋は落ち着かないんだよなぁ、どこか。

このくらいのサイズ感の都会は横石的に大好きである。ぜひこういうところに宿をとってゆっくり地酒でも飲みたいものだ。

なんておっさんくさいことを思っていたらだいぶ時間が経っていた。日暮れ前に目的地の道の駅に着きたいので少しだけ早歩き。

といっても岐阜市街から8キロほどなのでそんなに遠くはない

ということで2時間弱で

今日の野宿地。道の駅柳津に到着

横石の旅史上トップレベルにこじんまりした道の駅だ。しかもベッドタウンの中にあるけどはたして寝れるのだろうか笑

何はともあれせっかくの誕生日なので一本だけご褒美に乾杯。

明日はいよいよ滋賀県に入る。近畿へまっしぐらだ。

歩行距離 33キロ

岐阜県美濃市→岐阜市

総歩行距離 1738キロ
