浪漫飛行へ（re:日本一周#15）

15日目の今日は道の駅キラメッセ室戸で起きる

すぐ裏が海ということもあって、潮風の涼しさと蚊が寄って来なくて気持ちよく眠る

そんな今日はとりあえず桂浜を目指して走って、そのあとは適当に野宿先を探す

15日目の道のり

朝から気持ちいい天気の中

「さぁいくかぁ」

なんてカイトと話してたとき、「ちょっと待って」とおばあさんが話しかけてきた

「なんだろ？」て思っておばあさんを見てみたら、昨日の夕方、道の駅で話しかけられて仲良くなったおばあさんだったんだ

そのおばあさんは「これお弁当。手作りだから朝ごはんに食べてね。お味噌汁もあるから、このポットからお湯入れて飲んで！あ、ポットはここに置きっぱなしでいいからね、じゃあ頑張るんだよ」

なんて言って2人分のお弁当を持ってきてくれた

予期せぬ優しさに、2人して心が温まる。

カイトも旅の本当の楽しさに少しずつ気づき始めてたかもしれない。

出会うはずのなかった人と出会って優しさをもらう。その優しさをいつか自分たちが繋ぎたい。そんな気持ちになる温かい1日の始まりだった。

走り始めても、お弁当パワーといい天気パワーで速度が上がる。

2人していつもより調子よく、高知県の海沿いを走っていく。だいたいいつも時速20キロくらいだけど、この時は30キロくらいで飛ばしてた。

そして1時間ほど走ると、「高知安芸自転車道」という標識が見えてきた

「おぉ！自転車道だって！行ってみようぜー」

くらいの気持ちで走り始めたこの道が、四国の中でもトップレベルに絶景が広がる道だった

綺麗に舗装された道で走りやすく、遮るものがなく広がる青い海。

思わず立ち止まって深呼吸した

海からは潮の匂い、アスファルトからは太陽の匂いが漂う

この道は別名が黒潮ロードというらしい

太平洋を旅する黒潮がここ高知沖に流れてくるのだ。栄養豊富な温かい黒潮はたくさんの魚たちを呼ぶ。その魚たちの中にはカツオやクジラなど、高知名物の魚たちもいるのだ。

世界を旅してきた黒潮がここ高知沖にたくさんの恩恵をもたらしながらやって来る。

なんか素敵な話だよね。

南国感あふれる青い海を眺めながら、ふとそんな話を思い出した。

ちなみに黒潮が始めて日本列島に出会う場所は沖縄県の日本最西端の島、与那国島だ。

今年の旅は一ヶ月後に与那国に辿り着くまで、黒潮を辿る旅でもあった。

バンダナを締めなおして、黒潮を辿る旅をする

ロマンあふれる男の冒険じゃん

なんて思いながら、また少し自分が誇らしくなった。

1年前までは、自転車で県を越えることさえ考えられなかったけど、今自分は埼玉県から四国まで来てる。そしてこれから黒潮を辿って日本最南端、最西端の島まで目指すなんて…

少したくましく日焼けした体を眺めながら、自分はこれからどこまでいけるのか。まだまだいろんな冒険が待ってるであろうこれからの旅路を想像して、胸が踊った。

どこまでも浪漫飛行だ

まさにスタンドバイミーだ

旅をしている時だけは、自分が物語の主人公になれた。

そんな気持ちにさせてくれた自転車道を走って、気づけば70キロを走破し桂浜に辿り着いた

桂浜といえば、やっぱり坂本龍馬

かの有名な坂本龍馬像を目指して歩くと

見えて来たのはどでかくそびえる背中だった

男は背中で語るらしい。

幕末の日本を導いた坂本龍馬の背中は今まで見たどの男の背中よりも大きかった（銅像だからかもしれないけど）

前に回り込んで、顔をしっかり拝んでおいた

この先、坂本龍馬のようにカッコいい男になるために、しっかり風格を焼き付けた

そして桂浜に降りる

相変わらず高知の海は「the 高知」って感じだ

これは行ってみないとわからないから、本当に一回高知に来て欲しい

そんな桂浜を男2人で楽しんだ後は、

「とりあえず温泉入りたくね？」ってなって15キロくらい先の土佐龍温泉を目指して走ることに。

土佐龍温泉で2日ぶりに汗を流してさっぱりした後は今日の野宿先に向かって、残り26キロの道のりを走る。

走り始めると、さっきまで雲ひとつない快晴だったのに、雲行きが怪しくなって来た。

「おいやべぇぞ、温泉入った後に濡れるのはやばい。飛ばそう」

なんで焦りながら2人して急いで走っていると、残り13キロ地点で…

豪雨になった

どこも雨宿りするところがなくて、慌てて少しだけ屋根がある防波堤のような施設に乗っかって雨宿り。

カイトの顔が一瞬で死んだ

多分俺の顔も死んでた

せっかく温泉で汗を流したのにこのザマだ

屋根の幅も少ししかなくて、容赦なく吹き込んでくる雨に2人して耐えた

小1時間してやっと止んだゲリラ豪雨

ようやく走れる！と思って、また走り始めると、目的地まで残り3キロでまたゲリラ。

もう雨宿りするのもバカバカしくなって、2人でびしょびしょになりながら走った

そして辿り着いた道の駅では体力を使い果たして、2人して早々に眠りに落ちる。

そんなお盆の1日だった、、、

走行距離 120キロ

高知県室戸市→高知県須崎市

総走行距離 1847キロ
