新たな旅立ち（徒歩日本縦断#37）

37日目の今日は新潟市内の四柳家で起床

昨日の夜は地元の寿司が食べられる飲み屋に連れて行ってもらって、美味しすぎる寿司を食べながら気持ちよくほろ酔い。

そして今日はひとり旅の始まり。

新しい旅立ちだ。

久しぶりの布団でずっと熟睡していたかったけれども5時に起床して準備を開始。

なぜこんなに早く起きたかというと、今後の日程に関係している。

横石は免許更新や諸々の事情で19日に一時自宅へ帰る。今日は9日なので19日までのこれからおよそ10日間でどうしても日本で最も高い二つの峠に挑みたかった。

一つは日本国道最高地点の渋峠（標高2172m）

もう一つが日本の道路最高地点の乗鞍岳畳平（標高 2702m）

渋峠は去年自転車で群馬側から登ろうとしたが火山活動で群馬側は通行止めだったのでリベンジも兼ねている。

そして乗鞍は自転車で一回頂上を極めたが、せっかく徒歩で旅をしている以上、今度は徒歩でも日本で一番高い道路に挑みたいという思いがあった

これから新潟を南下して長野県に入る。ここからはひたすら山岳地帯を越えてまずは渋峠、そのあとに日本で一番厳しいと言われる北アルプスの峰々の峠の中でも1番の乗鞍に挑む

ルートとしてはこんな感じ

10日の猶予のうちに乗鞍から降りて岐阜の高山を目指す。

距離にしておよそ440キロ

登る峠の合計標高は10000mを越える

それを10日間でクリアしなければいけない

そんな挑戦になる以上、勝負は今日から始まっているのだ。

今日、明日は平坦な道が多い分、本格的な山岳地帯が始まる前になるべく距離を稼がなきゃいけない。そのために今日は48キロ、明日は52キロという歩行をしなければならないのだ。2日間で100キロの道のりだ。

ということで5時に起床して、準備を始めたわけだが…

お母さんが早くからこんな朝早くから朝ごはんを準備してくださって、ホテルばりの朝食を食べる

そして大きいおにぎり3個とエネルギーゼリーなども持たせていただき（本当にありがとうございました😭）万全の状態で6時過ぎに出発

相方のタクマも起きてくれて、四柳家と今日は新潟で停滞するタクマに見送られて新しい旅路が始まった

究極とも言える10日間でどこまで横石の身体と心が持つか。勝負の旅路が始まった。

まずは歩き始めて1時間弱で

新潟県庁を通る。関東は台風15号がものすごい威力を発揮してたみたいだけど新潟は風もなく薄曇りで歩くのには絶好のコンディションだった。

強いていうなら流石の県庁所在地ってことで市内は信号が多くて無駄にストップを繰り返して体力を消耗したことだろうか。

このストップ&ゴーの繰り返しは後で響くのだがこの時はまだ朝の元気で余裕があった。

信濃川を越えて新潟の中心地に別れを告げ

ひたすら歩く。

信号の影響もあって少し進むスピードは遅いが、午前9時には14キロ進んだ。

しかしここでまさかの

なかなか強い雨が降り始めた。

流石にコンビニの軒下に避難して様子を見ることに。「1時間経っても止まなかったら強行突破かなぁ…」なんて思っていたら、なんとか45分後に小康状態に。

台風の影響で湿った空気が流れ込んで雨雲を呼んだのだろうか。風が強くない分助かったが、痛いストップになった。

10時前に再スタート。雨で湿度が上がった状態で暑くなってきたので、予想以上に汗をかきながら進む。

そのままなんとか13時まで歩き続けて、この時点でスタートから30キロを歩行し新しい街三条市に入る。

三条に入ったところで昼ごはん

ヨツのお母さんが握ってくれたおにぎりを頬張る。

1人になると余計におにぎりの温かさを感じるなぁ。美味しいしお腹にたまる大きさだったので一つは夜用にとっておこう。食べるのがもったいなく思えてくるほどに幸せな気持ちになるおにぎりだ。

そして午後も国道8号をひたすら歩く

晴れ間が見えたのでようやく刈り取られた後の田園風景が綺麗に目の前に広がる。

正直新潟市からの国道8号は完全に幹線道路って感じで面白くもクソもなかったので、午後を過ぎてから暑くなったが、やっぱりこうやって少しでも青空が見えたほうがいい。歩きにメリハリが生まれる。

と思ってたら

42キロ歩いた地点で足が止まってしまった

やっぱり信号待ちと天候の変化で体力を消耗したのかな

無理はせずに新幹線の高架下の日陰で足を休める

これから幾度も疲労や痛みで足が前に出ない時が来るだろう

その度に一歩踏み出す勇気を試されるとなると、改めて歩き旅の過酷さを思い知るんだろうな。それでもなるべく無理はせずに、休めるところは休んで頑張るしかない

今日は15分ほど休んだらまたいつも通りに歩けたので、そのまま午後5時半に48キロを完歩

ご褒美に一本だけ缶ビールを買って一人乾杯

そして道の駅パティオ新潟でおやすみなさい

歩行距離 48キロ

新潟県新潟市→見附市

総歩行距離 1198キロ
