親父の背中（re:日本一周#9）

今日はいつもとは違う日だ

目的地の姫路で、青春18切符で同じく旅をする親父と合流する。

少し気恥ずかしいけど、色んな話が出来るなぁとか、今日はゴチになるぞーとか思いながら、大阪の中心地を走り出した

9日目の道のり

大阪の朝は治安が日本じゃないみたいだった。

通勤するサラリーマンの横では食べかけのパンを売っている日雇い労働者の人がいたり、ゴミを漁って食べていたり、18歳のヨコイシはまだ綺麗な日本しか見てなかったことを知った。まぁでも今思えば、良いところに住んで、良い飯を食ってるから、それが「綺麗」なのかなって思うところはあるけど、とにかく18歳のヨコイシには衝撃だった。

とにかくそんな大阪も見ながら、走り始めて10キロとしないうちに兵庫県へ

兵庫に入ると国道2号をひたすら進む。

そして西宮に入ると…

いやぁやっぱりこれだよね！

甲子園だよ甲子園！

しかも！

ちょうど今から兵庫県勢が試合とあって、超満員に盛り上がってた。入れないのが残念だったけど、都道府県のプライドを背負ってこの大舞台に立つ高校球児がめちゃくちゃカッコよく思えた。何年も必死に練習しても、天文学的な数字の選ばれたやつしか出れない舞台が甲子園なんだなって、この盛り上がりを見たら実感した。自分が出てるわけでもないのに胸が熱くなって、理由もないけど走りたくなった。

甲子園でパワーをもらって、灼熱の2号線を走っていく。

西宮を過ぎて、走っていくといよいよおしゃれの街神戸へ

なんかこんな小汚い格好の旅人が来てはいけない気もしたってくらいに綺麗

いや、鳩までピンク色で綺麗なのか

鳩にまで綺麗さで敗北したわ

走るたびに綺麗すぎてパシャパシャ写真を撮っちゃう。

本当に関東でいう横浜そのまんまな感じだった

神戸のおしゃれさに若干うろたえながらも満喫して、また2号線を進む

2号線は神戸を越えると、若干都会から田舎へと変わっていった

瀬戸大橋を眺めながら、のんびり進んで加古川に入ると、笑顔が眩しいおばちゃんに声をかけられた

「あんたどっから来たん？」

「埼玉からです！」

「そりゃえらいとこから来たなぁ、兄ちゃんみたいな人は好きやからちょっと待ったって！」

なんて言って5分ほど待たされると

「これ！暑いし大変やろうからこれ食べて飲んで元気出してな！あと、このお金でなんか好きなもん食いな！」

なんて言ってあれよあれよという間に渡された

優しさが眩しくて涙が出そうだった

何も知らない旅人にこうやって優しくしてくれたおばちゃんは「優しさは繋ぐもんなんや」って言ってた。

「うちも若い頃は色んなことして色んな人に世話になったから、今度はこうして優しさを繋げたいんだ」と話してくれた。

優しさは、遥か昔から繋がって来た人と人との関わりの結晶なんだと知った。

俺もいつか優しさを色んな人に繋げたい

みんなが繋がる優しさをもてば、きっと日本は世界で一番素敵な国になるよな。

そう思って少し嬉しかった

そんな素敵なことを教えてもらったおばちゃんに別れを告げて、加古川を越えると、もうすぐ姫路だった。

親父は夕方6時に姫路に着くらしいから、先に姫路城を見に行く

世界文化遺産で国宝の姫路城は、今まで見たお城の中でも特に美しかった

白く輝くお城は白鷺城と呼ばれ親しまれているらしい。

圧巻の城門をくぐると

姫路城の全体像が現れた。

本丸、一の丸、二の丸、どれも美しく連立していて、まさに国宝というにふさわしい宝物のような美しさだった

かといって美しいだけじゃなく

反り返る石垣は防御の厳しさも感じさせてくれた。難攻不落だったに違いない

いざ本丸に入ると

めちゃくちゃ急な階段の連続だ

敵を拒むためとはいえ、ここまで急だと味方も大変じゃね？とか思いながら登ると

天守に辿り着いた

天守から見る姫路の町は、秀吉や池田輝政が見た景色と一緒なのかもしれないと思うと少し誇らしい気持ちになった

なにより姫路の山々から吹き下ろしてくる風が通り抜ける天守は、真夏にもかかわらず涼しく、優しい風だった。

そんな国宝であり世界遺産を満喫した俺はいよいよ親父と合流する。

親父は元から旅が好きで、若い時からいろんなところに行っていた。そんな親父から冒険譚を聞くたびにワクワクしていた少年ヨコイシは、少し親父の背中ってやつに憧れていたのかもしれない。自転車日本一周に出た理由も多少なりともそういうものがあるんだろう。

親父は俺が日本一周に出るときに、こっそり俺の財布に5000円札を畳んで入れていた。

旅に出てからその5000円を見つけると、5000円の中には「餞別です」とだけ書いてあった。

そんな少し不器用な親父とどんな話をしようかな。どんな旅の話をしようか。でもお寿司を食べるのが楽しみだから、まずは腹ごしらえだな、なんて思いながら、親父を乗せてくる電車を待ちわびた。
