旅存続の危機（re:日本一周#30）

30日目の今日はいよいよ1週間お世話になった佐世保を離れる


1週間お世話になった佐世保を離れるのはなかなか寂しい。

寂しさが尾を引く中、振り払うように走り始める

まず目指すは九州横断をして大分県だ

今日は途中の福岡と大分の県境であるうきはを目指して走る

1週間ゆっくり休んだせいか、足が軽い

かなり快調に飛ばす

早朝の佐賀平野を自転車一匹走ってく

投稿している制服姿の高校生が眩しい

かなり足の調子は良かったんだけど、久しぶりに朝から走ったせいでお腹が冷えて、少しお腹の調子だけは悪かった

だけどそんなこと関係ないくらいに快調に飛ばして、2時間半ほどで佐賀県庁を越える

がばい美しい田園風景を走って

雄大な筑後川に差し掛かった

筑後川を越えればいよいよ福岡県は久留米市に入る

ここまで午前10時で70キロを走っていて、今までの旅路の中でも一番調子よく来ていた

けれどここで例の腹痛が襲う

汗が出るくらいお腹は痛かったんだけど

久留米市は不幸中の幸いといえるような都会の町だったので、すぐにコンビニに駆け込んで用を足す

10分後、溜まっていたものが全て出て気持ちよくなったヨコイシはこれまで以上に軽快に走った

軽快すぎて自分でもビビりながら、12時には今日の目的地である道の駅うきはに到着

道の駅うきはから見える筑後平野の風景を撮りながら「うわぁまじで今日もっと走れそう！とりあえずここでおじちゃんに握ってもらったおにぎり食べながら昼飯にして、予定変更して40キロ先の道の駅でも目指そうかなぁ！」

なんて思いながら、予定より早く着いて時間に余裕のある心のウキウキのままに、フロントバッグに入っているおにぎりを取り出そうと、バッグを開ける

バッグを開けると、異変に気付いた

「ん？無い」

スマホがあるはずのバッグの中に無かった

ダラダラに冷や汗をかきながら、他のバッグの中も漁る

ケータイが無ければ何もできなかった

ブログの更新はもちろん、沖縄へ飛ぶ飛行機の予約番号もわからない、連絡も誰とも取れない

焦る心を落ち着かせて、とりあえず公衆電話から自分の携帯に電話をかける

「留守番電話に接続します」

予想通りの留守電だ

家に「携帯を無くしたかも」と公衆電話から緊急の連絡もするが、もちろん遠く離れた埼玉からじゃなんの解決にもならない。

焦った心を落ち着かせるための自己満足でしかなかった

最後に携帯をいじった記憶は、30キロ手前の久留米市だ

久留米市からうきは市までの30キロの間で落としたのか、あの腹痛の時に立ち寄ったコンビニに置いていったのか、皆目見当もつかない

もし前者ならほぼ絶望だ

知らない土地で携帯を落としてもまず見つからないし、30キロという距離を考えても、捜索範囲が広すぎた

もしも後者なら希望があった

コンビニ側が保管していてくれたら、今から取りに行くことも可能だから

前者の可能性は切り捨てて、後者に望みをかけることにした

だが、久留米市は大きい街だ。

コンビニも腐るほどあった

そこから忘れたコンビニを割り出すのは、そう簡単なことではなかった

なのでいくつかコンビニを割り出すための情報を整理した

①コンビニはセブンイレブンしか使ってない

②国道沿いのコンビニであることは間違いない

③確か、久大本線の大きなガード下の近くにあった

この3つのヒントを整理してから、道の駅に来ていた地元の若い方に事情を説明してスマホを貸してもらい、google mapの航空地図から調べた

すると3件ほど、そのヒントに合致するコンビニが見つかって、すがるようにそのコンビニの電話番号へ電話した

正直これで無かったらこれ以上旅を続けられるかもわからない

残ったお金でスマホを買ったら沖縄には行けなくなるし、予定通りにはいかなくなるだろう

祈る気持ちで店員さんの返答を待つ

そして2件目のコンビニ

「忘れてましたよ！黒いカバーのiPhoneですよね！お手洗いに置いてありました！」

天にも昇る気持ちと安心感がやってきた

どうやらヨコイシがあの時お腹が痛くて立ち寄ったコンビニらしい

あの時、たしか

「はぁ、やっと出たぞー！お腹痛いの治った！気持ちいい！早く走りたい！早くケツ拭いて走るぞー！」

「フキフキ」

「まじか、一発でケツが拭き取れてしまった、気持ちよすぎるっっ！」

「ガラガラ（忘れ物の確認もせずに、気持ち良さのあまり威勢良くトイレのドアを開けて出て行く音）」

思い出してしまった

ようするにただヨコイシがアホなだけだった

あの時の快便の気持ち良さでここまで窮地に陥るとは…

本当に天国と地獄は紙一重だ

そして久留米市からうきは市までは国道で繋がっているために、こまめにスマホで地図を確認する必要がないという点も、30キロ走ってもスマホがないことに気づかなかった原因だった

まぁとりあえず今はスマホがあったことに安心して、次の作戦を考えた

それは30キロ先までどうやってスマホを取りに戻ろうかということだ

これに関してはバスか自転車の2択しかなかったけど、迷いなくバスを選んでしまった

でも仕方ない。流石にさっきの焦りで疲れも出てたし、往復60キロをこれから自転車はきつすぎた

道の駅の店員に最寄りのバス停を聞いて

人1人いない浮羽発着所へ

そしてほんとは景色のいい道の駅で食べるはずだったおにぎりもあの騒動で食べ損ねたから

このタイミングでいただく

おじちゃんが朝早くから握ってくれた優しさとか色々混じって涙出そうだった

そこからバスに乗って、うきは⇆久留米間を2時間ちょっとで戻って来てしまった

文明の利器はすごい

なによりスマホが戻って来た

スマホがないと安心できない自分を少し呪いながらも、無事に道の駅うきはに戻って来た

目の前で沈む夕日を見ながら

明日とりあえずケータイ首につけるストラップ買おう。そう思って眠りについた

走行距離 110キロ

長崎県佐世保市→福岡県うきは市

総走行距離 2935キロ
