自転車日本一周 1年目

沖縄感を味わいたいなら竹富へ（re:日本一周#41）

41日目のこの日は5日間も滞在した与那国島を離れていよいよ次の島へ

おじぃーの家のみんなとお別れをして、伝説のゲロ船に乗り込む

覚悟してたんだけど、この季節には珍しく凪の日で初日ほど揺れることもなく定刻の2時に石垣島へ戻って来た

なんでだろう。5日間与那国にいただけで石垣島が大都会に見えてくる

これはもう東京に帰ったら魔界に違いない

そのくらい与那国の最果て感はすごかった

石垣のフェリーターミナルで遅めの昼食を済ませたら、その足で次の島へのフェリーに乗り込む

その行き先は石垣からわずか15分

竹富島という島だ

いざ乗船すると本当にすぐに竹富は見えてきた

断崖絶壁だった与那国と違って、平べったい竹富島。周囲も10キロほどしかない小さい島

それなのに観光客がたくさん来る

それには竹富島の町並みに理由があった

フェリーから降り立った瞬間どこからか聞こえて来る三味線の音

白砂の道とハイビスカス

石垣と赤瓦の屋根、練り歩く水牛

俺が想像していた沖縄がそこにあった

なごみの塔という島を一望できる塔に登ると


赤瓦の屋根が並ぶ竹富島の町並みが一望できた

この島にはどんな冒険が待っているのだろう

ワクワクしながら海へと向かう

木のトンネルをくぐって

花咲く道を抜けると

海に突き出た西桟橋に辿り着く

あいにくの曇り空も絵になる竹富島

海だってこの透明度だ

そんな感じで西桟橋でのんびりしてたら雲の切れ間から夕日がのぞく

なんて素敵な夕日だろうか

しかもここ西桟橋では与那国で仲良くなった旅人さんにも出会って、桟橋の先っぽで乾杯してしまった。なんてのんびりな時間だろうか

帰り際には

ちょこちょこ前を歩く可愛い姉妹なんかもいたりして

今日の宿はゲストハウスジュテームというところだ。

なぜかめっちゃ女性が多い宿だったけど、ここで仲良くなった旅人さんと一緒に夜ご飯へ

ソーキそばをご馳走になってしまった

21歳の今だから言えるけど、この時18歳

18歳の時のかわいがられ方は特別だったなぁと思う。ブログを書き直してて改めて思うことは、まだまだたくさんの人に支えられながら旅をしているけど、俺より若い人もたくさんいるだろうし、少しずつだけどもらった優しさを繋げられたらなって改めて思う

さぁ、夜ご飯を食べてもまだ夜は終わらないよ

みんなで星を見に行くことになった

そんな夜だった

    There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
