自転車日本一周 2年目

サドルから見る風景（re:日本一周#51）

51日目のこの日は道の駅たのうらで起きる

朝から地元のおっちゃん達にコーヒーを飲ませてもらって台風情報とかも聞いた

おっちゃん達によると、いよいよ台風は鹿児島に迫って来てるらしい。ウカウカしてるとここも強風域になってしまうと

そうなったらゆっくりしちゃいられない

午前7時 おっちゃん達に見送られて出発

今日は国道3号をひたすら北上

熊本→福岡を超えて佐賀市内を目指す

予定走行距離は135キロ

前日170キロ走ってるのもあってかなりきつい日程ではある

ただ唯一ありがたかったのはひたすら平野を走ること。

八代平野から熊本平野、最後に佐賀平野と山がないことだけが救いだった

ただ、普通に国道を走るだけだと平野はつまらないので、あえて少し道をそれて田舎道へ

午前中はまだ陽も照りつけていたから、しっかりガリガリ君ドーパングして走り続けて、

10時ごろには60キロを飛ばして走り、熊本市内へ入る

ここではどうしても見たいものがあった

そう。熊本城だ

震災から1年経った熊本城をこの目で確かめておきたかった

ということでいざ中へ

？！？！立ち入り禁止？！？！

また下調べしない病が発動したみたいだ

熊本城は全面立ち入り禁止

仕方なく外からその様子を眺める

眺めた熊本城は立ち入り禁止にも納得してしまうような現状だった

崩れた石垣

痛々しくシートがかけられて、立派な熊本城は影もなくなっていた

工事のおじさんに聞くと、全面的に直るまではあと20年はかかるそう…

そういえば去年の旅で、こんな旅人さんに出会った

なにしろ、アテもなく、お金もない旅をしていたその人は、熊本地震があった直後に、残り少ない財産の全部を熊本での滞在費に費やし、ボランティアをしたという

一見向こう見ずにしか思えないその人はこんなことを言っていた

「仕事も辞めて自分の身が自由な今、震災があったっていうことは、残りのお金を全部使ってでも、ボランティアに行くべきだと思った。それが今まで旅をして来て、優しさを色んな人にもらって来た自分がやるべきことだと思う。」と。

そして続けて、

「震災の支援物資の山が熊本に集まっているのを見た時、不謹慎かもしれないけど、自分にはその場所がパワースポットに見えた。日本各地の飾りのない優しさが、ここに集まっているんだから」

そう話していたのを一年経った今でも鮮明に覚えていた

これが色んな人の優しさに触れた旅人のあるべき姿なんだなぁと。話を聞いていて泣きそうになった。

そしてこの惨状を自分の目で見た今。
その旅人さんが自分の財産を全て投げ打ってまでやった行為は、お金より大切なものなんだなぁと実感する。

俺もこうやって本当に大切なものに対してぶれないでいられるかな？できるかぎりでいいから、少しずつかっこいい大人になっていこう

そんなことを考えながら、熊本城を後に、旅を続ける

熊本から佐賀まではまたまた敢えて国道じゃなくて少し遠回りの県道の風景を楽しんでみる

県道はね、その土地の風情というか、国道じゃ見られないような景色が広がっているんだ

突然のヒマワリ畑

太陽の申し子だけど、明日からの台風に耐えて、またしっかり花咲かせてくれよー

少し寂れた橋

誰が使ってるのかな？とか想像してみる

きっとこの橋も誰かにとっては生活の一部になってる橋で、思い入れのあるものなんだなと

土管の中にはヤギがいた

こいつの家なのかな？ここ

俺よりいいとこ住んでるじゃん。屋根あるし

予報外れのゲリラ豪雨で軒下に雨宿りさせてくれた優しいおじちゃん

雨上がりに虫取りに出陣する親子の後ろ姿

鼻歌を歌いながら、チャリを漕ぐ

県道に来ると、なんで自分が自転車を使って旅をしているか分かるんだよなぁ

だってさ道の匂いも風も花も雨も太陽も、全部全部、自転車なら感じられるんだぜ

電車はもちろん、車やバイクでも通り過ぎてしまう景色全部、自分のものになる

そんなことを考えながら走っていたら、もう今日の目的地、佐賀に着いたみたい

長崎の親戚の家まではあと50キロのところまで来た。台風が来る前。明日の午前中には辿り着けそうで一安心だ

走行距離 132キロ

熊本県芦北町→佐賀県佐賀市

総走行距離 4095キロ
