99の冒険（re:日本一周#52.53）

52日目

佐賀から50キロを走り無事に長崎の親戚の家に辿り着く。

午前中のうちに辿り着いたので、親戚のチビ達を虫取り魚とりに連れて行って、夕方はみんなでバーベキュー。

台風が近づいているとは思えないくらいの充実ぶりに久しぶりのベッドに爆睡した


53日目

晴れた

台風は予報より東の方へそれて、九州で一番西に存在する長崎は晴れ

台風を言い訳に今日は一日ぐだぐだするつもりだったんだけど、差し込む朝日と広がる青空を見たら走りたくなっちゃうのが旅人の性らしい

しばらくは佐世保の親戚の家を拠点にしながら長崎を旅することにする

ということで初日の今日に目指すのは佐世保の西端にある本土最西端の地「神崎鼻」

親戚の家からおよそ40キロ西へ進むことになる

親戚の家から神崎鼻を往復すると80キロだ

そんなに長い距離ではないのもあって午前8時半。遅めの時間に走り出す

走り始めて1時間ちょっと、佐世保市街を抜けて少しした時にこんな看板が目の前に現れた

「九十九島パールシーリゾート 左へ。展海峰この先登り8キロ」

そして思い出す

それはまだ小学生の時毎年長崎に遊びに来ていた夏休み。九十九島に連れて来てもらって無人島探検をした思い出。そして展海峰から見た無数の島々の影と青い海。

「今あの場所はどうなっているんだろう？、昔と変わらない風景と冒険が広がっているんだろうか」

そんなことを思っていたら無性にドキドキして来て、気づけば進路を左へ、山を登り始めていた。

登りは結構キツイ斜度に照りつける太陽で、かなりキツイ。

だけど海沿いの島々を眺める道のりを走る高揚感はその苦しみに勝る冒険だった

九十九折が続く道から眺める九十九の島々

その島一つ一つに想いを馳せる

どんな魚達がいるんだろう？

どんな生き物がいるんだろう？

男なら誰しもこんな無人島で一度は冒険してみたい。気分はまるでトムソーヤの冒険だ

そんな島々を眺めながらひたすら登り続けること8キロ。遂に辿り着いた頂上。展海峰

その名の通り海を望む頂からは手を伸ばせば掴めそうな真夏の絶景が広がる

本当に手を伸ばせば届きそう。なのに届かない青い水平線と無数の島々。

そんな光景に無性に憧れた

旅ってこういうことだろうなって

どこまで行っても、どこまで登っても、永遠に辿り着くことのない地平線の果て、水平線の淵

それはまさに手を伸ばせば届きそうなほどはっきり広がるのに掴めないロマンなんだって

手を伸ばせば掴めてしまうモノを追い求めたってワクワクなんかしない

だからこそ旅人は、広がる地平線に想いを馳せた瞬間から、いつまでも旅人なんだよな

なんて不覚にも、またもや終わりのない憧れを増やしてしまった。

さぁ、でも今日はこんなところで燃え尽きちゃいけない。もう一つの憧れを追いかけなきゃ。

それは日本の果てを意味する「本土最西端の地 神崎鼻」

日本の果てに自転車で辿り着くということがロマンじゃなかったら他になにがあるのか教えてほしいくらいに、ワクワクするじゃん？

ということで滑るように展海峰を下って西へ走る

展海峰から神崎鼻はもうそんなに遠くはなかった。登りも無くなった海沿いの道を軽快に飛ばして、午後1時

辿り着いた

永遠に終わることのないロマンを少しでも消化するために声に出して叫んでみる

思いのままに叫ぶ

だけどやっぱり最果ての地に来てしまえばワクワクは止まらない

これからまだまだ北へ向けて大冒険が待っているんだろう。九十九島の島の数より多くの冒険をしたみたい。そう思いながら神崎鼻を後にし、親戚の家へ帰宅した
