未知の壁を越えろ（徒歩日本縦断#34）

34日目の今日は旅人の聖地道の駅あつみで4時半に起床。本来ならもっと死ぬほど寝たいんだけども眠い目を擦りながら朝の準備をする

朝焼けが空も海も一面ピンクに染める午前5時に歩き始め。

なぜこんなに早いかって、今日はこの旅最長の52.6キロ先の道の駅を目指すからだ

そんな今日のみちのり

今日は気温が34度という北海道から南下してきた横石たちには耐え難い酷暑になる予報があったために、それも踏まえて涼しいうちから歩き出す

朝の凛とした空気に包まれて軽快に歩き始める

だけど気持ちは引き締まっていた

50キロを越えるという未知の壁はいつ怪我や疲労、事故を引き起こすか分からないからだ

そういった意味でも朝の空気は気を引き締めてくれる。

歩き始めて4キロほどのコンビニで少し豪華にエネルギーチャージ

これ200円でカレー食べれるからやばい

朝飯を食べてからすぐに

遂に東北地方を抜けて北信越、新潟県に入る

「さぁ！ここからが勝負の始まりだ！」

と言わんばかりに新潟に入ってすぐ、午前八時を過ぎた頃から太陽の光がきつくなっていく

急いで熱中症予防のために帽子を深くかぶった

ここからは海沿いの国道345号にそれる

海沿いということは綺麗な風景が見れる反面、日陰がなくなるということだ。

覚悟を決めていざ海沿いへ

予想通りの暑さの反面、今日の日本海は今まで旅をしてきた中でもトップレベルで綺麗だ

凪いだ海面が空の青を全て反射して、これでもかというくらいに透き通る

そんな日本海の美しさも楽しみながら、もう一つ横石が楽しみにしているものがあった

それがこれ

伝説のテレビ番組水曜どうでしょうにて、伝説の名シーンであるだるま屋ウィリー事件（カブの旅で大泉洋が停止信号からスタートするときにウィリーして突っ込んだ）の現場があるからだ←マジで面白いから是非見て欲しい。YouTubeでだるま屋ウィリー事件って検索したら絶対出てくるから

そんな伝説の事故現場には数々の水どうシールが貼られていて、大泉さんと水曜どうでしょうがどれだけ愛されているかが分かる。

これを見れただけでも今日はまぁ満足なのだが、まだあと40キロ歩かなきゃいけない。気合いを入れて歩き始める。

新潟の山形県側最初の町、村上市には「笹川流れ」という風光明媚な名所があるのだが、歩き始めて15キロを過ぎ笹川流れに入った頃、遂に日本海が本気の色を出し始めた。

なんだこの色

ブルーハワイシロップをかき混ぜたみたいな淡い青

水平線は空の色と同化して、どこが空と海の境目なのかわからないほどだ。

吸い込まれそうな海を眺めながら歩いていく

次はエメラルドグリーンの海が目の前に広がる

数キロ歩いただけでこんなに海の色が変わるなんて、絶対神様は笹川流れだけに特別なシロップを混ぜてるとしか思えない。

独特な形をした岩壁の数々がこれまた良い雰囲氣を醸し出している。

笹川流れはトンネルも多いが

トンネルを越えたら、越える前とはまた違う色をしている透き通った海や独特な岩肌が姿を見せてくれる

七色以上に輝く海の色をこんなに近い距離で観れるのは、日本中探してもここにしかないと思う。青い空以上に青く。緑生い茂る山以上に緑の海はきっとここにしかない

お昼ご飯は道の駅笹川流れで豪華にカツカレー（朝もカレーじゃんってツッコミはやめて。お子ちゃまなの）

海を一望できるレストランでお腹いっぱいエネルギーチャージして、レストランのおばちゃんに頼んで冷たいお冷もペットボトルいっぱいにチャージした

この時点で11時半。進んだ距離は27キロ。

しっかり休憩もとったので残り半分を歩き出す

午後も奇形な岩や美しい海を楽しみながら歩いていたが、そろそろ暑さが本気を出してきてペースが落ちる。それでも午前中のうちに距離を稼いでいたおかげで焦ることなく進む。

吹き出す汗をトンネルで冷やして、キンキンに冷えた水で水分を補給して、また歩く。

そんな作業を繰り返しながら歩き続けいたら

ようやく田園風景が見えてきた。

海沿いの道を離れる兆候だ

笹川流れは本当に美しい風光明媚な場所だった

自転車日本一周のときからこの場所はお気に入りだったが、その時は曇っていたので今日初めて笹川流れの本気を見た気がする

さぁここまで40キロ歩いてきて残りは12.6キロ

時刻は午後2時半で日が暮れるまでには確実に間に合いそうだ。

旅で大事なのは早く着くことではなくて、いかに体力を消耗せずに日暮れまでに目的地に辿り着けるか、だ。日が暮れてしまうと事故に遭う危険性が一気に増す。

今大事なのはこのまま焦って12キロ歩いて目的地に辿り着くことではなく、しっかり休憩して後に残る疲労を抑えること。どっちにしても日暮れまでには着くので焦る必要はない

ということでそこからさらに4キロほど進んだところで村上市街に出たので、コンビニでレッドブルをかちこみパワーチャージ。残り8キロで時刻は3時半なのでまぁ休憩してても余裕がある

もしものときの補給食として残しておいたサラダチキンもここで食べることにしよう。

しっかり30分ほど休憩して、またスタートすると不思議と足も軽くなったので、残り8キロもぐんぐん歩けた。やはり休憩は大事だ。旅を重ねるごとに自分の休憩すべきポイント、まだ進み続けられるポイントが分かってくる。

そして午後5時。スタートからちょうど12時間後に52.6キロを歩ききりゴール。

休憩を合わせて1時間半したから、時速5キロのペースを守り続けて10時間半歩き続けたことになる。横石もだいぶ成長したようだ。

今日はしっかりご褒美。

目の前にコンビニもあるので生ビール一本だけ飲もう。

旅の後のビールほど美味しいものはない。

今日は50キロ越えという未知の壁をいい疲労感で乗り越えられたので気持ちよく寝られそうだ
