後ろ姿（徒歩日本縦断#107）

107日目の今日は天草市街のネットカフェで起床

200円で大盛りカレーが食べられると書いてあったので頼んでみたがこれがまた超大盛りで朝からお腹をパンパンにして外へ出る

外は雨が上がったばかりで気温も低い

そして白い息を吐きながら一緒に泊まってくれたヨツが待っていた

昨日の夜もファミレスで飲みながら語り合ったが、かれこれヨツとは色んな場所で飲み語り明かしたみたいだ。

神保町、代々木上原、ひばりヶ丘、横石の家

懐かしいな。あの時に笑いながら、それでも熱く語り合った男の浪漫を俺たち今叶えてるんだぜ。

初めて出会ったのは新宿の東口

「俺も日本一周してみたいんだ」

キラキラした目で話してくれたのを覚えてるよ

思えば遠くへ来たもんだ

そしてこれからお互いさらに遠くへ行くんだ

偶然交差した旅路は当然また別々に道へ進んでいく

これからまだまだ辛いことや苦しいこと、逃げ出したいこともあるだろうけど。俺たちはそんなもの全部と向き合ってここまで来たんだぜ。だからきっと大丈夫や！

まぁ、ヨツに強いていうことがあるとすれば。停滞はほどほどにな。笑笑（彼は唐津に9日？停滞したという伝説の持ち主）

あとしっかりブログ書いて。楽しみにしてるんだから。

行ってらっしゃい！！

歩き旅はいつも大好きな旅人の背中を見送る側だ。そりゃそうだ1番遅いんだから。

でもこんなに幸せなことはない。やっぱり荷物をたくさん背負った旅人の後ろ姿は様になるし、見ていてこっちまでワクワクしちゃうんだ

そんな旅人をまた1人見送って横石も歩き始める

天草市街を抜けて3キロほどすれば道は山道へ

今日はここから天草諸島最南端といってもいい牛深という街まで、40キロほどひたすら山道だ

道中、なぜか広場のように整備された場所に聳える大イチョウがあまりにも綺麗でつい足が止まる。雨上がりの空に黄色が良く映えて、まるで映画のセットみたいだ。

休憩しようと腰を下ろした場所には赤い絨毯が敷かれてるし、南下してるからこそ紅葉前線をひたすら追いかけているような、随分と長い秋を楽しんでいる。これでこのまま沖縄に逃げ込めば永遠に冬は来ないのかな。だけどそれはそれで少しさみしいな。冬は寂しい季節だけど、冬を感じられないのはもっと寂しい。

日本おとぎ話に出てくるようなのどかな風景をひたすら歩いていく。アップダウンはなかなか激しいが、それ以上にやっぱり横石はこういう何気ない風景が大好きだ。ずっと見ていられる

山茶花山茶花咲いた道〜

びっくりするからやめてくれ本当に。

終わらない山道を登っている途中、ふと思う

こうやって山道を登るのはあと何回あるんだろうか。

思えば横石の旅路は常に山と共にあった

北アルプスも、お遍路も、日常の峠も

本当に1人になれる山が好きだった

孤独主義者ではないけれど

1人で山に入って行って、山の色んな匂いを感じるのが好きだった

木の匂い、太陽に照らされ蒸された草の匂い、落ち葉の甘い匂い、獣の匂い、樹液の匂い…川の匂い…山には本当に色んな自然の匂いが溢れていて、それを吸い込むたびに季節を感じ、美しさを感じることのできる山道が好きだった。

そして雲を突き抜けるほど高い山に登れば、そこからは信じられないほどの浮世離れした風景が広がり、道もないほどの深い山に入れば、そこには恐怖と隣り合わせの美しさがあり…その全てを毎日感じていたと思うと、横石は最高に贅沢な旅をしていたんだなと今更ながら思う。

まだ旅は終わるわけじゃないのに、最近やけに感傷に浸ることが増えた。

ダメだダメだ！

感傷に浸るのは本当にこの旅が終わってからにするんだ！そう自分に言い聞かせて登り下りを続ける。

今日唯一あった問題点は圧倒的にお店がないこと

お遍路が終わってからは、割と長くても10キロ歩けばコンビニがあるような市街地を歩くことが多かったからついつい気が抜けて食料を備蓄する癖を忘れていたが、今回に関しては25キロ歩いて午後2時になるまでコンビニ一つなし。

なぜか釣具屋が多くて、釣りエサを食べてやろうかと思った。

結局2時にデイリーヤマザキをようやく見つけて

安堵のお弁当。

そして日が暮れる中、山道を歩き続けてやっと牛深市街が見えてきた

今日はここの道の駅で野宿だ

まるで水族館のような変わった造りの道の駅ですぐ側には綺麗な橋が架かっていた。今日はここで寝て、明日はいよいよフェリーで長島という島に渡って本土ラストの鹿児島県に入る。

潮の匂いを感じながら、おやすみなさい
