永遠の10（徒歩日本縦断#113）

昨晩。インスタで「別荘に泊まっていっていいよ！！」と声をかけてくださったプロダイバー桑原さんの宜野座にある別荘にお邪魔したが、腰を抜かしてしまうほどだった

100人はパーティー出来るであろう広すぎる敷地に、3.5メートルの深さがあるダイビングもできるプール

「あれ？ここは高級ホテルかな？」

と思ってしまうのも仕方ない。

プールサイドのヤシの木と青白く光るプールが高級感にあふれている

別荘の中にはバーカウンターや、広すぎるリビングに何部屋もあるベッドの並ぶ部屋など、とにかく横石が今まで住んできた世界ではない世界線に来てしまったような、そんな錯覚に陥る

そんな素敵という言葉では済まないような広すぎる別荘に横石1人で、しかもご好意で泊まらせていただくのだからまたすごい。すごいという言葉以外出てこない。

空いた口が塞がらないというのはまさにこのことだ。ここまでアホヅラしたのは久しぶりというくらいに口が空いたままだった。

もちろんダイビング器材やカメラも所狭しと並ぶ部屋があり、音響や照明をいじる部屋もあり、控えめにいって最&高だ。

そして夜ごはんは

沖縄の家庭料理を桑原さんのお友達が作ってくださり、料理を食べながらいろんな話を聞いた

日本中、世界中の海を潜ってきた桑原さんだからこそ分かる、今の海の汚染問題や海の中の世界。沖縄の政治問題から綺麗な海の話まで。

この数時間でニュースを見る何倍もの沖縄のリアルを学ぶことができた気がする。

そんな夢のような一夜が明けて朝

窓から見える風景は相変わらず夢のようだが、そんな気分をも下げてしまう雨粒。

だが沖縄は今日から3日間、特に明日は雨がひどくなる予報だ。

まだ雨の弱い今日のうちになるべく那覇に近づかなければ、晴れた時に行きたいところに行けなくなってしまうので名残惜しすぎる夢の国を離れて朝8時から歩き始める

今日の目的地は東海岸の今いる宜野座からまた西海岸へと戻って30キロ先の読谷村（よみたんそん）を目指す

ということで今日は雨なので写真は少なめ

まず歩き始めて2キロ

プールも付いている綺麗な道の駅ぎのざで雨宿りしながら散策。

それにしても宜野座は人口5000もない小さな村なのにお金持ちの村らしい。

その財源の7割以上は基地とも聞いた。

そして「基地があるから海が汚くなる」と思いがちだが、実は基地があるからこそ、人や開発の手が入らなくて海の自然が守られることがあるのだそう。実際基地がない沖縄の土地は次々と開発されていて珊瑚はどんどん住めなくなっているだとか…

これも一様にどちらがいいとは言えないが、基地は決して拒まれるべき存在ではないことを改めて実感する。

そしてもう一つ驚いたのがこれ。12月に満開になった秋桜

「あれ？横石は永遠に10月を繰り返してるのかな？」と思うほどに本州で秋桜が咲いた時期から南下しているのでひたすら秋桜を見続けている。どうやら知らぬ間に秋桜前線を追いかけているらしい。なんか素敵だね。日本に四季があって、南北に長いからこそ味わえる最高の贅沢じゃん？ゆっくり歩いて旅をするからこそ、秋桜前線と共に歩いてこれたらしい。

金武町（きんちょう）に入ってからは街がアメリカナイズドされている

街の表記の半分は英語で、行き交う車の半分以上は屈強な米兵が乗っている。

道端ではゴミ拾いのボランティアをする米兵さんたち。まさに街に同化した、そんな存在だった。決して異質とは思えない。そんな風景だ

ヤシの木が並ぶ国道を歩いていき

灰色の世界に紅く燃えるように咲くハイビスカスを眺めながら冷たい雨の中を進んで

うるま市へ入る

うるま市はだいぶ都会で、整備された街中を一路北へ進路をとって

シーサーの道標に従って県道を4キロほど進めば、東海岸から昨日までいた西海岸へ

まさに沖縄はジグザグに行きたいところへ縦断している感じだ。時間があるってやっぱりいいね。

そして恩納村に出てからは

本当にジャングルのような独特の雰囲気漂う深い森と海が共存する西海岸の国道を歩いて

今日の目的地である読谷村へ

読谷村では一度来てみたかったゲストハウスに泊まる

それがここ、秘密基地感溢れるThe沖縄ゲストハウスの月と海という場所。

チェックインを済ませ、冷えた身体を癒す温かいシャワーを浴びて

オリオンビーール！！！！

三つ星かかげて高々と！！！！！

今日は意外と強くなった雨の中で頑張ったからご褒美や！ということで多分明日はこのゲストハウスで停滞します。沖縄の島時間満喫じゃあ
