世界はうつくしいと（re:日本一周#24〜#29）

佐世保の親戚の家では1週間お世話になった

それはもうゆっくりと、それはもう懐かしい

それはもうノスタルジアで、それはもう温かい

そんな素敵ななつやすみを過ごした

毎朝起きるとチビ達を連れて散歩にいった

山の中の一本道を

チビ達の歩幅に合わせて

ゆっくり、ゆっくり歩く

ゆっくり歩けば歩くほど自転車とは違う風景が広がった

のんびり並んで道案内してくれるトンボ

不自然になぎ倒されたけもの道

川の流れる音

田んぼのあぜ道だって、子供達からしたら冒険だ

飛び出る蛙、足元の淀みに潜むミズカマキリ、稲穂が揺れる波の匂い…

そんなふるさとの散歩道を通って、チビ達を連れてやってきたお墓では祖母が眠る

懸命に手を合わせ目を瞑る子供達

多分俺の祖母のことなんて覚えてもいないだろう。だけど目を瞑る。どこまでもまっすぐに

そういえば子供の頃はお墓って怖かったよな

「死んだらどうなるんだろう」って考えてたら夜も眠れなくなったり、線香の匂いにクラクラしたり…

手を合わせる子供達の後ろ姿を見ていたら色々思い出す。

田舎のお墓は集落を見渡せる高いところにある

「いつまでも私たちを見守っていてください」

そう願いを込めて、高いところにある

なんて素敵な話だろうか

なんてうつくしい話だろうか

チビ達もいつか、ここにおばあちゃん達のお墓がある意味を知る時が来るんだろうか

そう思いながら眠る祖母に手を合わせてお墓を後にする

家に帰ればお昼ご飯が待っていた

そうめんを庭で採れた大葉の薬味で美味しく食べて、チビ達は昼寝の時間だ

昼寝が終わると「ようだいにいちゃん川へ行こう」という声に引っ張られるように川へ

川へと続く狭い階段を駆け下りる

この子たちは夏空の下でかけがえのない「夏」を過ごしている。キラキラした目がそれを物語る

魚をとって名前を調べる

虫をとって実際に触ってみる

モノゴトには一つ一つ名前があることを知る

どんなに小さな生き物でも、隅っこに咲く花にも、立派な名前が付いていて、たしかに鼓動している命がある。

自然と遊ぶということは、そんな当たり前だけどお金では買えない、人としてなにより大切な価値観を学ぶということだ。

俺は自然との遊び方や、モノゴトに名前が付いている意味、本質や、自然が持っているロマンとワクワクまで、全部。このふるさとでおじちゃんおばちゃんに教わった。

だけどそんなおじちゃんたちは年をとる。年をとれば子供の目線で一緒に遊ぶことは大変になっていく。

けれどおじちゃんたちが年を取る代わりに、そのおじちゃん達に大切なことを教わったヨコイシは大人になる

だから次は18歳の俺がおじちゃんたちのまだ小さい孫達に昔教わったことを教える

そうしてチビ達は間接的に遥か昔から繋がる人との繋がりや大切なことを受け継ぐ。

いつかヨコイシがおじさんになった時、今度はヨコイシが教えたチビ達がヨコイシの子供に教える。

そうやって人は繋がっていく

ふるさとの景色は変わらないけど、人が見る景色は確かに変わっていく。そんな当たり前だけどなにより大切なことを確信として実感できた自分が少し大人になれた気がした

チビ達と遊んで、童心に帰れるのはもちろんのこと、どうやらチビ達は本当に色んなことをヨコイシに教えてくれたらしい。

起きて、散歩して、虫取りして、川遊びして、花火をして、気づいたら寝ちゃって…

そんなありふれた、だけどなによりも素敵な1週間を佐世保で過ごす中で、ひとつだけいつもと違うことをした。それは毎晩詩集を読むことだった。ゆっくりと自分の時間を過ごせる夏だからこそ、詩集を読みたかった

うつくしいものをうつくしいと言おう。
 風の匂いはうつくしいと。
 おおきな樹のある街の通りはうつくしいと。
 過ぎてゆく季節はうつくしいと。
 きれいに老いてゆく人の姿はうつくしいと。
 幼い猫とあそぶ一刻はうつくしいと。
 何ひとつ永遠なんてなく、いつか
 すべて塵にかえるのだから…。
 なくてはならないものなんてない。
 所有できるものはいつか失われる。
 日々の悦びをつくるのは、所有ではない。
 草。水。土。雨。日の光。猫。
 石。蛙。ユリ。空の青さ。道の遠く。
 何一つ、わたしのものはない。
 空気の澄みきった日の、午後の静けさ。
 川面の輝き。草の繁り…。
 素晴らしいものは、誰のものでもないものだ

いつだって、普遍的に存在するうつくしいものを「うつくしい」と感じる心を持ってる人なんだ。

そう思えるだけで、明日の自分を、これからも走っていく自分を、肯定してあげたいと思えた
