自転車日本一周 1年目

急ぐってつまんねぇな（re:日本一周#32）

32日目の朝

ネットカフェで準備をしていると衝撃のニュースが飛び込んでくる

台風12号が九州に直撃するらしい

しかも見事に縦断のコースだ

5日に鹿児島空港で沖縄行きの飛行機を予約してしまっているヨコイシは焦る

明日からは天気が崩れるのが目に見えていたし、なにより台風が接近する中走る危険を考えれば、天気が安定している今日、距離を稼がなければいけないのは仕方のないことだった

ということでヨコイシは大分から宮崎まで、1日で180キロの道のりを強行することに決める

32日目の強行過程

走り始めてすぐ

宮崎まで187キロの表示を見て絶望

「分かってることだろ！やるしかないやん」

そう自分に言い聞かせて、奮い立たせる

大分からまずは山道へ

「陸の孤島」と九州の人たちに言われる宮崎に入るには山越えをクリアしなければならない

まずは山道の細かいアップダウンを越えながら、50キロ走って豊後大野市を抜けて佐伯市へ

佐伯から宮崎に入るために400mの峠越えが待っている

気合いを入れ直して峠を登り始めた

しかしまぁ180キロ走るこの日に400m級の峠はなかなかきつい

温存していた体力もまずここで奪われる

10キロほど登り続けて、やっとの思いで頂上へ

ここからはゆるく山道を下りながら、宮崎県境はもうすぐだ

下っている途中の道の駅では、逆方向からやってきた日本一周チャリダーのたかぴーさんという方に偶然お会いして、おにぎりと宮崎名物の地鶏唐揚げをいただいた

貴重な情報交換もしながら、楽しいひと時を過ごす。

そしてたかぴーさんと別れ、また走り始めるとすぐに宮崎県に入った

宮崎県に入った時点で時刻はちょうど12時

進んだ距離は90キロ

目的の宮崎市までもあと90キロ…

考えれば考えるほど地獄だからとりあえず考えるのをやめて走る

県境から最初の町延岡市街までは渓流沿いを30キロ下りながら向かう

今日180キロ走る中で唯一の救いは薄曇りなことだった

おかげで暑さで体力を消耗することはなく、変に汗をかいて水分を失うこともなく走れる

延岡市街に辿り着いてからはまっすぐ南へ

ひたすら海沿いを走りながら宮崎市を目指す

道中

トトロ駅なる不思議な駅名の駅もあったけど、立ち寄る余裕はなくてスルー

延岡市街からさらに40キロ走って日向市に入ると、本当は今日野宿するはずだった道の駅日向に辿り着く

とりあえず地元っぽい日向ウォーターを飲んで休憩したけど、やっぱり先に進むことにした

この道の駅は近くに温泉もあるし、割と野宿には完璧だったんだけど、後ろ髪引かれる思いで先に進む

そして宮崎市にむけて爆走してると気になる文字が出てくる

「名物 チキン南蛮」

このころまだチキン南蛮が宮崎名物だとは知らなくて、純粋にチキン南蛮大好きっ子からしたら食べたくて仕方がなくなった

そして結局

食べてしまう

急ぎたい欲も三大欲求には勝てなかった

正直疲れてたし、お腹も減ったし、とりあえず体力回復も兼ねてチキン南蛮を満喫する

ここから宮崎市まで残り40キロ

正直足も重くなってたけど

ここまできたら180キロ走り切りたいという思いしかなくなっていた

夕暮れの中

走る

影法師が長くなる前に

まだ空が青いうちに

重い体に鞭打って走る

そして日が暮れるギリギリに

無事宮崎県庁へ

初めて180キロ走って思ったことは

「急いでも何も面白くないな」

ただそれだけ

自転車で旅をしてる本質を忘れそうになる

空が青ければ立ち止まって上を見上げて

海が透き通っていれば立ち止まって飛び込んで

綺麗な夕日が出ていれば立ち止まって眺めて

ゆっくり行くから見えてくる風景があるから

ゆっくり進むからこそ感じるものがあるから

自転車旅はいいんだなぁと改めて思う

今回は台風が来てたとはいえ、もうあまり無理はしたくないなぁと思った宮崎の旅路だった

走行距離 183キロ

大分県大分市→宮崎県宮崎市

総走行距離 3228キロ

But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 images. Maybe you could space it out better?
