たいむとらべる（徒歩日本横断#94）

94日目の今日は福岡県行橋市の快活で起床

鍵付き個室をブース料金で使えたので、安眠して、朝は恒例の無料モーニング

いかにも体に悪そうなポテト山盛りだが、「朝飯分しっかり食べて金を浮かすぞ」という食い意地の元、山盛り2セット目に突入した有り様だ

そんな今日は福岡を抜けて大分県最初の町である中津市を目指す

道のり的には32キロとめちゃくちゃ余裕のある距離なので快活を出てからはコンビニで野菜ジュースを流し込みのんびりと暖かくなるまで過ごす

ご覧の通り行橋市街はなかなか都会だ。流石福岡県。正直初めて聞いた地名だったが、しっかり「街」だった。

午前8時くらいになってからようやく歩き出すが、今日はやけに足が重い。「あまり歩かない日」という思い込みもあるのだろうがそれにしても足が重い。

例えるなら背負っているバックパックが倍の重さになった感覚だ。

まぁ心当たりならいくつかある。

まず今朝、不摂生にこういうポテトとかばっか食べてること。笑

それ以上に京都から既に800キロ程度歩いているが、その間1日完全休養日を作っていないこと。

さらにいえば九州に入って達成感と安心感があること。

体調を崩したとかではないが、こういう積み重ねが本当の体調不良になりかねないので今日はいつも以上にのんびりと歩いていく

幸い道のりはひたすら国道10号をまっすぐなので、道を確認したりとか、迷ったりみたいな変なストレスが無くてありがたい。

5キロごとくらいには座って休憩を入れながら

行橋市街を抜ければ段々と田園広がる田舎道になっていき

少し道をそれた日豊本線の駅舎に誘われるように入っていけば、昔ながらの木造建築に癒される。こういう旅情あふれる風景で旅人は元気になるのが習性だ。重かった足も段々と軽くなっていくのが分かる。

お昼時にはノースリーブでも汗ばむほど暑くなってきて、それもまた元気を作ってくれる源になる。やはり暖かい方が体もよく動くもんだ。

昼ごはんは少し豪華にコンビニで野菜たっぷりのお弁当を食す。足が重いのが本当に栄養が足りないからかは分からないが、最近野菜不足だったのは明らかなので気持ち的に野菜を取って体を元気にする作戦だ。こういう思い込み大事。ただのカプセルを風邪薬だと思って飲んで治るとかもあるしね。（ちなみに今年の旅では何種類もの薬を持ってきていていざ体調不良になってもコロナ禍の中なので自力で治せるように用意してきたが、幸いにもまだ一粒もお世話になっていない）

昼ごはんもたっぷり食べて、軽くなった足で歩いていると横には白い蕎麦の花が満開で咲き乱れる

蕎麦の花って北海道では8月、本州では9月くらいに咲き乱れているイメージがあったけどやはり九州は暖かいのだろう。南に進むに従って徐々に移ろう気候の変化を楽しんでいくのも歩き旅の特権だ。自転車だったら1シーズンで北海道から沖縄まで行けてしまうのであまりそういう感覚にならなかったが、歩きは3シーズンは必要な分、そういう感覚に嫌でも浸ることができる。

南に向かうに連れてタイムマシンで季節を逆行していくように、木々や花から季節を感じていく。まぁ流石に去年の12月に石垣島で30度あった時は「やりすぎだろ笑」って思ったけどね。夏の北海道よりも暑い沖縄の冬を体験して初めて「日本って広い」って実感したなぁ。

そんなことを思いながら歩いていき、福岡最後の道の駅へ立ち寄るとその裏手にこれまた季節を感じる花畑を見つけたのでまた寄り道してみる。

「今が旬だよー！」と言わんばかりのコスモスたち。秋桜と書いて字の如く、本州でいうと9.10月に満開なイメージだが、九州では今が満開のようだ。ちなみに沖縄では冬も咲いてた笑

全国で人々の目を癒すコスモスは、秋の風物詩であり、たしかに春の桜のような存在だよなぁ、コスモスを秋桜って漢字にした人は日本の心をわかる素敵な人だと思う。

そしてコスモス畑の隣には

遠目から見ると「キバナコスモスかな？」と思っていたが、どうやらマリーゴールドのようだ

幾重にも重なり合う黄色の花びらが優雅で煌びやかに風に揺れている。マリーゴールドも夏から秋のイメージがあったけど、この季節でも見れるんだなぁ、さすが九州。

ちなみにマリーゴールドを多くの人が知るきっかけにもなったあいみょんの歌詞に、「麦わらの帽子の君が揺れたマリーゴールドに似てる」とあるが、これに関しては全く似ていない。それこそひまわりの方が麦わら帽子っぽいけどなぁ、マリーゴールドの方がオシャレだからかな。

なんか小学生くらいの時に家族旅行で花畑とかいっても「なにがおもろいの」としか思わんかったけど、今になって花畑の良さがわかるようになってきた…面白いとかじゃなくて、気づけば微笑んでいるようなほっこり感がいいなあって。それこそ日常の中にある1番身近な非日常って感じがする。

そして花畑を眺めた後に道の駅のベンチでゆっくりしている時、あるご家族に声をかけられた。先ほど道で声をかけてくれたお父さんが四人の息子さんを連れて駆けつけてくれたのだ

まだ高校生から小学生の若い子達だったけど、それぞれに夢があるようで、キラキラした目で色んな質問をしてくれた。「何かを踏み出す時の一歩って勇気がいりますか？」とかね。

横石が思うに、本当にやりたいことをやる時に必要なのは勇気じゃ無くて覚悟だと思う。今やろうと思っていることが本当に自分の望むことなら、「勇気が必要だ」とか思う前に多分実行に移してるし、「なにかをやりたい」と強く望むことそれ自体でもう必要な勇気は充分自分の中にあると思うんだ。大事なのはいざその物事を始めた後、やってくる困難や問題を乗り越えてなお目的地に辿り着く「覚悟」があるか。そしてそういう覚悟ってやつは、実際に挑戦していくその道のりで宿ってくるものだと思う。だからまずは始めること。「諦めちゃうかも」なんて思わなくても大丈夫。本当にやりたいことに覚悟を持って臨んだその時には、諦めないことより諦めることの方がよっぽど難しいんだから。

そしてそうやって少しずつ積み重ねていくことが自信になっていくから。なんか偉そうに語ったけどこれは横石の持論です。

こういう出会いもめちゃくちゃ元気が出る

気づけば朝重かった足はすっかり元通りで残り8キロを歩いていく

そして22都道府県目の大分県は割とすぐにやってきた。

まだまだ先は長いと思い続けてきたが、気づけば大分県も入れて残り4県を歩いたその先にゴールが待っている。

だいぶ過去行事も残り少なくなってきたが、今回も恒例の

大分県にーーー！！

イーーーーーン！！


ちなみに最初の町中津市は福沢諭吉が育った地らしい。だとしてもカントリーサインが人の顔パターンは初めてだ。存在感がだいぶある笑

道中で食料を買い込んで

今日お世話になる道の駅なかつへ

休日とあってまだ混み合っていたので近くの公園でのんびりブログを書きながら閉店を待つことにしよう

明日からは本格的に国東半島へ

未開の地の旅路は楽しみだなぁ
